RONALD GANTT - A FRIEND

F - forever in contact with me. His friendship with me was not seasonal. Our friendship has existed for 53 years.

R - reliable. He was trustworthy. His commitment to truth began at home way before he became an Eagle (Truth and Service). His sources of information were better than the media.

I - ingenious Gantt's discovery ability was amazing. Whether discovering your ingredients in your sweet potato pie, fried chicken or Accelerated Depreciation of an Assets Holding Period. He was amazing.

E - everlasting commitment to Truth and Service. During good times and bad times. During winning seasons and losing seasons. During good health and bad health.

N - never wavered on his beliefs and his commitments. A Strong Tower.

D - determined to stand tall, not in height alone (6ft 6 inches) but in his love for family, friends, community; and especially his love for his Alma Maters, James B. Dudley High School, Greensboro, NC and DEAR OLD NCCU, Durham, NC.

Ronald Gantt, A Friend.

I met 'Gantt' in 1969 when we started, as freshmen, at NCCU. We were never roommates but stayed one or two doors from each other every year at school. I have so many great memories (games, food boxes his mother would send him, playing cards late into the night, travels . . . being young and enjoying college in a spirited way. We continued to communicate over the years, actually up until just a few days ago. We were good friends and I will certainly miss him and mourn his loss. He loved NCCU! Precious memories . . . how they linger. John A. Hill, '73

I remember my last conversation with Ronald about three weeks ago. He called to put a "fire" under Carolyn Ramsey-Williams and me concerning our "Golden Eagle" year in 2023. He wanted us, as coordinators, to started raising money now!! Also, Ronald wanted me to promise that we would make sure he was at the "Golden Eagle" celebration in 2023 any way we could get him there. My friend and classmate you WILL be there in my HEART! Ron was my longtime friend that began when he served as Alumni Association Vice President during the years I served as National Alumni President. We became more than friends and on many occasions took "family "vacations. On the Monday before his passing we talked for over 30 minutes. Ron promised to call back but this was not to be. I will truly miss him!

I first met Ron Gantt years ago at an NCCU @ Bowie State game a bit after the passing of my first wife. We held many a friendly debate over the football teams of our respective schools, back then. Bowie State stunk yet he was extremely gracious. He will be missed. May he rest in eternal peace now.

I will miss all the arguments we had about on a weekly basics about who had the best athletic teams between the AGGIES and the EAGLES especially in football. I have never seen a more die hard eagle in my life. I will miss you Gantt and may you rest in peace. Yours in " AGGIE SPRIT" Handsome Billy Covington Dudley class of 1968.

Will miss having those conversations regarding HBCU sports and cooking. Gantt life was well lived. May Ronald H. Gantt Rest in Peace.

I am sorry to hear about the homecoming of one of my friends, almost cousin, and classmate from James B Dudley High School '69. I left Dudley our senior year and graduated from a different H.S . Ronald would always keep me abreast of happenings and we stayed in contact till his homecoming. My friend, restful Peace Forever. Gary E. Gant

Rest In Peace my friend. Will miss calling and talking about our beloved NCCU Eagles. John & Toya Littlejohn

Sincere condolences to Jerome Gantt (nephew) and the rest of Ron's family. We spent many wonderful times together, especially at Johnsie's and Jerry Gantt's (and Aunt Eldria's) family gatherings. His dinner rolls and pound cakes were #secondtonone - and NO ONE ever left without a few rolls and slices of cake to take home. Ron, like his brother, was also a great conversationalist and took pride in sharing his stories. He laughed and shared that joy with others.

I'm glad we stayed in touch vis FB when the family gatherings diminished. Now he has conquered the last great enemy, Death, and is rejoicing with his loved ones in the heavenly realms.

Alleluia!!!! Fred and Wilhelmena Sapp Fayetteville NC
