Obituary For Pastor Cassandra Elliott

Mrs. Cassandra Elliott, also affectionately known as “Su-Su”,“PC”, “Cassie” or “Pastor C”, was born on March 10, 1968, in Brooklyn, New York to Deacon Winfield and the late Pastor Eva Ballance. With her devoted husband by her side, she peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Sunday morning, June 27, 2021.

Along with her siblings, Cassandra was raised in a home with God-fearing parents who both were musically inclined, which inspired her journey and cultivated her love for God and music. At the age of six, Cassandra began singing and playing the piano at church. For twenty-one years her musical gift and spiritual guidance was nurtured within the Glorious Church of God In Christ, under the leadership of the late Bishop Perry Lindsay, Sr. She lived and breathed music which was an outlet and a place where the worshiper in her evolved. Cassandra was afforded the opportunity to attend Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts where she was challenged to develop her musical skills and cultivate her gift. She toured with and was the accompanist to The Boys Choir of Harlem. After Glorious Church of God In Christ, the Holy Spirit led her to Calvary UFW Baptist Church, Inc under the leadership of Apostle Clenso Allen.

The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives (Psalms 37:23: NLT)

On March 14, 1991, Cassandra married her best friend and the love of her life, Bryant Elliott. Trusting that God would direct her steps, Cassandra journeyed from New York to Ohio and then to North Carolina serving in various capacities within the Lord’s church as a Worship Leader, Minister of Music, Pastor of Worship and Fine Arts and Worship Director. Cassandra was an anointed psalmist, musician, and song writer. In addition to serving in the church, she was an essential contributor in numerous music recordings with a wide variety of gospel artists such as The Griffin Specials, Rev. Milton Biggham and the Georgia Mass Choir, the now Bishop Hezekiah Walker’s Love Fellowship Choir and had traveled and ministered abroad.

More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance (Romans 5:3 ESV)

After twelve years on dialysis, God answered her prayers, and then she would use that miracle to serve as a living testimony. Eight years after her kidney transplant she was yet trusted with another trial. On August 7, 2013, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and God yet again showed Himself to be a healer. In January of 2014, she received the good report that she was cancer free, and her kidney remained intact. It had been 15 years since Cassandra’s successful kidney transplant, and she never stopped serving God and birthed from this experience was none other than “The Gathering”, a healing worship encounter that allowed people to bask in the presence of God without restraint.

As an ordained minister of the gospel, Cassandra went on to earn a Bachelor of Theology from the North Carolina Theological Seminary on May 27, 2017. With the spirit of excellence, she served well in every place that God called her to. Cassandra served with excellence through her powerful speaking engagements, workshops, and coaching sessions in which lives have been transformed and changed for the better. On January 23, 2021, the Lord called she and her husband into the pastorate of The Gathering Place Global Ministries. Pastors Cassandra and Bryant diligently served together in ministry

for decades. She asked the Lord to give her the “Strength and Courage “to make it through the test and trials that came upon her, and the Lord answered her prayers, therefore allowing her to leave an amazing legacy in the earth.

Cassandra leaves a loving family to cherish her memory: Her loving husband of thirty years, Bryant of Greensboro, NC; Father, Deacon Winfield Ballance of Brooklyn, NY; brother, Rodney Ballance (Latrice) of Upper Marlboro, MD; sister, Nancy Ballance of Brooklyn, NY; brother, Frank Ballance (Kantrece) of Brooklyn, NY; niece, Gianni Jones (Darius); Nephews, Gregory Moore and Caron Ballance, all of Brooklyn, NY; goddaughters, Shae Brown of Brooklyn, NY and Miss Addison Barnes of Greensboro, NC; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
