Mr. Ezekiel Davis, Jr. passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023.
Ezekiel Davis Jr., affectionately known as “Brother”, was born on February 17, 1954 in Jamaica, New
York to Ezekiel Davis Sr, and Rosalee Davis. He departed this life on September 22, 2023 at age 69.
When Ezekiel was a young child of three to four years old, the family moved to Astoria Queens. He was a
caring and quiet child; always wanting to help and protect everyone including his siblings. Ezekiel was
very creative and had a talent for art, particularly sketching with charcoal and pencils. He applied for and was accepted into Edison High School in Jamaica Queens where he advanced his talent. When he
graduated high school, he joined the United States Air Force, where he defended a fellow airman and
sustained a lung injury. While in the USAF he served as a firefighter.
When Ezekiel left the Air Force, he lived with his grandparents, Eliger and Maggie Davis and worked for the Department of Parks and Recreation for a time. He later began his career employed as a Mail
Handler with the United States Postal Service in Queens New York. It was during that time that he met
Delzora Spencer and the two married and moved to Orange, New Jersey, where they began their family
life together. They were blessed with a daughter, Laurean Joy Davis, who was Ezekiel’s pride and joy.
Ezekiel and his family relocated to Greensboro, NC in 1988, where he worked at the Bulk Mail center
until retirement in 2012 with 35 years of service.
He lived with his nephew Bernard after retirement and spent time enjoying his hobbies and spending time with grandchildren. “Brother” will always be remembered for his love of fishing, jazz music, action
heroes, movies, and TV shows. He knew the medical challenges ahead but faced them without complaint. His final days were spent in the loving care of his daughter, where he was able to have many happy times.
Ezekiel was preceded in death by his father, Ezekiel Davis Sr. He will be missed by his mother Rosalee
Davis, his daughter Laurean Joy Davis, 2 grandchildren, Nahvia Ophelia Davis and Ky James Sanders, 2 brothers, Charles Davis (Claudia), and Ronnie Davis (Sonya), 1 sister Bernice Gethers Cunningham, 3 nephews, 4 nieces, and many other family and friends. His memory will continue to strengthen the family.
A service honoring his life will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 10:30am in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home; 909 E. Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27401. The visitation will begin at 10am.
The interment will take place following the service at Salisbury National Cemetery; 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.

Zeke was never my friend, he was always my brother.
Zeke was a good man who served his country and raised a daughter.
We, along with several other childhood friends were inseparable as we were growing up. I have known Zeke for approximately 60 years. I will miss him for sure, he is in God's hands now, no better place to be 🙏🏿
To Zeke's family, my Wife Randy, son Rob III and daughter Myla are heart broken over Zeke's passing, our hearts are comforted because of God's Word:
2 Corinthians 5 King James Version (KJV)
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and present with the Lord.
Much love to the Davis family ❤️🙏🏿
In memory of Ezekiel "Dave" Davis Jr. Time will heal broken hearts. Laurean, I will always be here for you and the kids. With Love, Mom
