Carrie Michelle Roberson Gatling was born on May 3rd, 1963 in Greensboro, NC to the late James Pinnix and Hazel Roberson Patterson. She departed her life on March 19, 2024 surrounded by her dear family and friends. Affectionately known as Michelle, she attended James B. Dudley Senior High School and was a part of the Class of 1983. After leaving Dudley, she went on to Job Corp and a few years later she attended Leon’s Beauty School to study Cosmetology. Throughout Michelle’s life she held a variety of occupations. In fact, there were far too many to name. What can we say… she got bored easily! 😁 In February of 1983, Michelle married her long-term boyfriend, Paul Gatling, and they shared seven years of their lives together. Later in life, Michelle began to pursue a deeper relationship with Christ. She eventually became a member of Celia Phelps United Methodist Church in Greensboro and served on the usher board. Whenever she was called to assist or volunteer, she did her best to be present. Michelle was well known in her community, Mt. Tabor and Red Hill. Over time, she found herself caring for several elderly adults in her neighborhood. Whether it was housekeeping, running errands or light yard work, she did all she could to serve. Over the last several years, our beloved Michelle began to develop various health problems. Despite all of the efforts made by her doctors over the years, her battle was lost to liver disease. Michelle is survived by her brother, Michael Roberson (Racquel) of Greensboro, NC; Kimberly Roberson of Greensboro, NC; life partner Alfred Rogers of Greensboro, NC; nieces and nephew, Jachelle, Jayna and Lemar Jr of Greensboro, NC; niece and nephew Juquell and Juvon of Turks & Caicos Islands; and a host of cousins & friends.
