Mr. Bernard Edward Spinks, age 77, made a peaceful transition to eternal rest on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. He was born on August 15, 1943 in Greensboro, NC to the late Burley, Jr., and Ella Louise (Whren) Spinks.
He graduated from James B. Dudley High School in 1963. Bernard met and married the love of his life, Catherine Williamson in 1964. He served in the United States Army and retired from the Army Reserves. He retired from Coca Cola in Atlanta, GA. He was musically inclined with the saxophone and played with the Thunderbirds, Roy Roberts Experience, James Brown, Chuck Jackson, Gary U. S. Bonds, and Dionne Warwick.
Mr. Spinks was a member of Institutional Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Catherine; daughters, Michele Spinks of Greensboro, NC and Victoria "Vicki" Spinks Keller (Rogers) of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Victor Spinks (Lin_da) and Burley Spinks (special friend, Mischelle Thompson) of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Shaun Morehead and Chase A. Keller of Charlotte, NC and Ryan A. Keller of Apex, NC; greatÂ.grandchildren, Jaylon, Kamara, K'Lon, Mackenzie, Kaden; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 12pm-2pm in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home. A private graveside service honoring his life will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury NC.
