Antoine “Tony” Holland, 62, of High Point, NC, transitioned from this life to his Eternal Home on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
Tony was born on September 28, 1958 in Welch, WV to the late Deacon Charles and Luverdia Holland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Karen D. Holland-Hairston, Mary Prather; and brothers, Charles Edward Holland and James Ivory Holland.
He was baptized at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church in Maitland, WV. While residing in Charleston, WV, he was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church until he moved to High Point, NC where he was a member of Triad Christian Center. Additionally, he was a member and Secretary of Saint John’s Lodge #12, F.&A.M. P.H.A.
Tony attended public schools in McDowell County, WV and graduated from Welch High School in 1976. He enlisted in 1980 and served in the United States Army for nine years. After relocating to North Carolina, he began working as an Installation Technician for Bellsouth/AT&T. While with Bellsouth, he was a Departmental Representative and Grievance Committee Chairman for the Communication Workers of America (CWA) Local 3607. In 2013, he went back to school to receive his B.S. degree from Guilford College in Business Management. He retired in June of 2019 after 32 years with AT&T as an Area Network Manager. After his retirement, he worked part-time for Allied Security.
Left to celebrate Tony’s legacy is his wife of almost 30 years, Patricia Miller Holland; daughters Haley Holland, Charlotte, NC and Alexandra Holland, High Point, NC; brothers, Manfred (Janice) Holland, Dunbar, WV; Derrick Holland, Winston-Salem, NC; and Michael Holland, Bessemer, AL; sisters, Pastor Kathie Holland, Lewisburg, WV and Tammy Holland, Winston-Salem, NC; brother-in-law, Marc Miller, Newport News, VA and aunt, Louise Warmley, of Harriman, TN. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Tony will be remembered for his love of football especially the WVU Mountaineers and the Carolina Panthers. He enjoyed bowling, golf, cooking, volunteering at his church, and spending time with family, pets, and friends. He will be greatly missed my many.
Services have been entrusted to Perry J. Brown Funeral Home (336.272.6109) where a public viewing will be held on Thursday, May 27th, 2021 from 4pm-6pm in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. A private funeral service honoring his life will be held at Evangel Fellowship Church of God in Greensboro, NC. Due to COVID restrictions, attendance is limited and funeral details will be selectively released. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Guilford Memorial Park.
