Mr. Roland Clinton Adkins, 94, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
Mr. Adkins was born in Lenoir, North Carolina and the son of the late Charles Adkins and the late Mamie Adkins. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Ruth Adkins. He served in the United States Navy from September 7, 1943 until March 19, 1946. He was a long time member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. Roland loved to sing for the Lord in church and anywhere someone would listen, including the grocery store. Roland loved visiting family and friends and witnessing to people about our Lord Jesus Christ. He loved to tell jokes and tell stories about when he served our country in the Navy and stories about when he was a little boy. He loved his family and was proud of all of them. Roland liked to walk for exercise and was proud he was in such great shape to be 94 years old. He would brag about how high he could still kick his leg up and proudly show you. He loved to watch baseball and always wanted to play professionally. He loved his hot chocolate and Mrs. Edwards Chocolate and Lemon Pies. Mr. Adkins was loved by many.
