Robert Lee Broome, 70 of Pamlico County, NC went home to be with the Lord on January 17, 2024. He was born on July 16, 1953 to Gladys & William Broome.
His remembrance service is 5:00 PM, Saturday, January 27, 2023 at Oscar's Mortuary, Eric Demmeyer, Presiding.
Robert was born in Virginia & was raised in Moyock, North Carolina. Robert started working on the boats as a deck hand when he was a very young man. He made scalloping his life’s occupation. He went from deck hand, to cook, to being first mate, he loved working on the water & had many stories to tell. Robert spent most of his life working on scallop boats from Virginia to Alaska in order to support his family. Robert loved being outside, between his work trailer & yard work. He was very picky about his yard, always wanted it to be in top tier condition. If that meant mowing in the rain, he had no reservations about getting wet. He loved being outside working in the yard or just messing around in his shop! And you best believe he had a hot cup of coffee in his hand no matter the weather!
He is preceded in death by both parents, Gladys & William, the love of his life his wife Bonnie Broome, one daughter April Hall; three brothers, John, Daniel & Jim all from Virginia and one sister, Suzanne of Virginia.
He leaves to cherish his memory four children, JR, Marie & Matt Noe and Shauna Lee McMillan-Jones. Two brothers, Norman (Stevie) & his twin brother, Roger Broome. Six grandchildren Gavin & Logan Godwin, Austin Noe, Angel Armstrong, Shayne Riggs & Jolynda Hetzell (Benjamin). Five great grandchildren, Kyleigh Bryant, Kolten Godwin, Anastasia, Luke & Clark Hetzell. Along with many nieces & nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requested memorial contributions be made to Oscar's Mortuary, 1700 Oscar Dr. New Bern, NC 28562.
