My cousin Althea and I grew up together. I went to visit my Grandparents and aunts regularly and had discussions with Althea since I was older. We also conversed on FB quite often. I was so proud of her when she graduated college in NY, and looked forward to her doing some big things. My sympathies to my aunt Mary. My prayers are with you on the loss of Althea. Althea is someone who will have a piece of my heart for the rest of my life. She was my supervisor during the second year of my time in residence life at Buffalo State and she was unlike anyone else I've ever worked with. She was the type of person that always made you feel safe and appreciated.

Her office happened to be right down the hall from my apartment, so each day I was greeted with the most amazing smile & the kindest of words. She was truly unlike anyone else I've ever met in my life, and it has to do, more than anything, with how selfless she was. I give my deepest condolences to the family, and I'm sure I can speak for all her Buff State family when I say I wish we could be there for her service. - Dionn S.

Althea was never my student at FLCC, but I often felt like I was hers. She taught me so many things that I still use to help influence how I move in the world. I'm more aware than I ever was because of her. Her reach was far and deep and she will be greatly missed. -Dr. Trista Merrill

Sending my deepest condolences to Althea's family during this difficult time. She was so kind, funny, and encouraging to those around her. She showed up in every space as her true self and the values she held onto changed every community she went to for the better.

I met Althea while working as a Resident Assistant at Buffalo State. My senior year Althea was the Assistant Complex Director of my building. In the three years I spent working in Res Life Althea was one of the best supervisors I had. She was funny, knowledgeable, and personable. She cared about her staff and her residents and wanted all of them to succeed. She was always there to offer support and advice when we needed it. She always encouraged us to dream big and chase after our goals. Thanks for the help growing not only as an RA but as a person. Thanks for the laughs, for the memories, and most importantly for being yourself.

At this time, I have no words or thoughts to express how I feel about the passing of a close and dear friend to me, Althea Johnson. Althea has always been that bright light to me and provide support to me whenever I needed it. She was a loving, caring, and sweet friend to me. My condolences go to her family during this difficult time. Althea had a beautiful soul and touched many lives including mine which is why this is so hard to write this without crying. I am so sad to hear about her passing and will never forgot our conversations we had. Althea was such a great person I will never forget her. My deepest sympathies go out to her family at this time.

Althea was one of my most memorable students. I have thought of her often after she departed SUNY Finger Lakes Community College. I am very sad to hear of her passing, and offer my deepest and most sincere sympathies to her family. -Dr. Robert Brown
