Obituary For Rodney Thomas Earl Dixon I

Rodney Thomas Earl Dixon I, born on September 9, 1964, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on September 11, 2023.

From a tender age, Rodney wholeheartedly embraced his faith in Jesus Christ, culminating in his baptism at Bellevue Baptist Church.

Rodney's educational journey took him through various schools in Chicago, including George Gershwin, Edward F. Dunne, and Carver High School. However, he was more than just a student; his entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly from a young age. Success was not a mere aspiration for him; he turned it into a tangible reality. During his teenage years, he recognized the significance of dressing for success, and suits became his distinctive attire. During this time, he and Regina, his high school sweetheart, shared nightly calls to coordinate their school outfits—a testament to their enduring bond.

Entrepreneurship was ingrained in his character. Rodney reached the zenith of his professional life as the President and CEO of R2D2 Innovations Corporation, a testament to his unwavering commitment to success. He devoted himself to fostering the growth and prosperity of small businesses.

In 2007, after a 26-year hiatus, Rodney rekindled his love with Regina, his high school sweetheart, whom he affectionately referred to as his “shero.” They sealed their love in a beautiful ceremony in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2008.

Nevertheless, Rodney's proudest role was that of a father. He cherished his children, Lawrence, Rodney II, and Jenais, as well as his grandchildren, Jordan and Nasir.

Rodney was a stranger to none. He earned the unofficial title of the Mayor of Peach Blossom Terrace, where quick trips to the store were a rarity. He greeted each neighbor with a smile, including the mail lady and the UPS delivery person. A simple visit to Kroger's with Rodney often transformed into a profound experience, as he knew the employees by name and engaged in meaningful conversations with them. Regina eventually refrained from taking him along on her grocery store excursions.

Beyond his corporate accomplishments, Rodney wore numerous hats. He was not only an accomplished businessman but also an ordained Bishop, a creative mind holding various patents, and even a cameo appearance in a rap video.

Rodney had an enduring passion for the finer aspects of life, particularly bourbon and cigars. His true delight was in gathering with friends, and even strangers who swiftly became friends, to share a smoke and engage in profound conversations. Rodney possessed a unique ability to discern the goodness in everyone, relishing the chance to connect with individuals from all walks of life.

He is survived by his older brother Rudolph, sisters Rhonda (Carl), Regina (Billy) and baby sister Demaris, all of whom have extended their extreme gratitude to the divine for the privilege of having the Rodney Thomas Earl Dixon1 sibling experience. Along with a host of cousins and other family members.
