Ernest (AKA ‘Ernie’) spent his childhood and formative years in Sandersville, Georgia, was a graduate of T.J. Elder High School, and lived in Sandersville until he joined the U.S. Air Force. He was a popular DJ- affectionately known as the ‘Rubber Band Man’. He is fondly remembered as a manager for the Airmen’s Club (AKA ‘Another Place’), and passionately chaired the Annual Airmen’s Club Reunion for twenty years until June 2022. He was actively involved in the Warner Robins VFW, including volunteer and community events. In addition, his love for friends and family was unmatched, as he championed many philanthropy efforts to support those in need locally and abroad. Ernie was a proud Air Force veteran, and honorably served for over twenty years in the 5th Mobile Communications division. His tours of duty included the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and multiple assignments in the Philippines and Thailand. Upon his retirement, he was an MWR Club Manager for the Airman’s Club at Robins Air Base and concluded his civilian service as an Aircraft Flight Mechanic. Ernie accepted Christ at an early age, had a strong faith practice which included being a disciplined student of the Bible, and also was a dedicated usher at the Robins Air Base Chapel. He emphasized the value of family and remembrance of his ancestors. Ernie departed this earthly life and went on to his great heavenly reward on November 17, 2022.
