Deacon Virgil O'Neal Jenkins Sr., born on September 15th, 1944, to the late Stonewall and Lizzie Jenkins in Carthage, Ms. He entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 31st, 2023 at 12:07a.m. with his wife and family at his side.

Deacon Jenkins accepted Christ at an early age and united with Free Mission Missionary Baptist Church. He grew up in Ofahoma, Ms. and later relocated to the Tribulation Community. He was a 1965 graduate of Jordan High School where he rean track. He also attended Piney Woods College.

He was united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, Elnora Smith (Honey). On December 25th, 2023, they celebrated 55 beautiful years of marriage.

Virgil was employed with Central Electric Power Association for 41 years. He retired from the company in 2009. After retirement, he gained employment with the Leake County School district as a bus driver. He wired houses for many throughout his lifetime.

Virgil was a faithful member of New Truelight Missionary Baptist Church where he served as president of the choir, a member of the Usher Ministry, Sunday-School Teacher, and a member of the Deacon Ministry. He was a mastermind at creating extraordinary, spirit filled Black History and Christmas programs for the youth of the church. He was well known for his baking skills, from amazing cakes to delicious pies.

Virgil O'Neal Jenkins loved his family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Elnora Jenkins of 55 years; four sons: Bobby (Tammi) Jenkins of Marion, Arkansas, Virgil (Shun) Jenkins, Issac (Shunda) Jenkins, Frederick (Teri) Jenkins, of Carthage, Ms; one daughter, Dinane (Cameron) Foster of Canton, Ms.

He also leaves to cherish his memories one brother, Sam (Linda) Jenkins of Carthage, Ms; two sisters: Mary (Charlie) Jackson of Las Vegas, NV, and Martha Jenkins of Carthage Ms. 15 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
