Artha Lee “Joe” Truss was born July 4, 1943, in Leake County Ms. to the late Levorn and Josephine (Pankey) Truss. Joe accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Delydia Hill M.B. Church In Leake County, Ms. until his health began to fail. He attended Thomastown Attendance Center

Artha Lee “Joe” was a hard worker all his life. He worked alongside his "best friend: Mrs. Josephine from a very young age. They worked together to care for their family and to provide the necessities they needed. He picked cotton, worked in fields, hauled pulp wood, worked on the roads, worked in logging, with the City of Kosciusko, and gathered a lifetime of friends along the way. His family and friends were plentiful.

Artha Lee “Joe” met and married his sweetheart, Stella Mae Thompson on May 16, 1965. To this union, five children were born. Kenneth, Tracey, Tiffany, Keith, an Andre. They worked together to grow a family filled with love and dedication to their children and they would also view family as everything.

Preceding Artha Lee “Joe” in death are his parents, Levorn and Josephine Truss (whom he referred to as his best friend). Siblings, Kate Emma, Ira Jean, Ellis (Buddy), Ollie Terry, Avon (Chuck), and Otha (OT); one brother-in-law, Theodore (Ira Jean), and three sisters-in-law, Vanessa (Otha), Josephine (Ollie Terry), and Lena Fae (Ollie Terry); one daughter and son-in-law, Angela and DeWayne Smith; one granddaughter, Candace Johnson an one great-granddaughter Madison (Gabby) Singleton.

After a short battle with cancer, Artha Lee “Joe” Truss 80, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Artha Lee “Joe” will be missed by many, especially by his many cousins, the Burts, Collins, Pankey, longtime friends, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Artha Lee “Joe” leaves to cherish his loving memories; his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Stella M. Truss, and two daughters: Tracey Truss, Kosciusko, Ms, an Tiffany Truss, Palmdale, Ca. Three sons: Kenneth (Katherine), Kosciusko, Ms. Keith (Deloise) Truss, Weir, Ms. and Andre' (Deressa), Kosciusko, Ms. two sisters: Dorothy Lee of Flowood, Ms. and Margaret (Thomas) Griffin of Carthage, Ms. two brothers: J.C. (Cheryl) Truss of Tallahassee, Fl. and Trenton (Hazel) Truss of Marks, Ms. two sisters-in-law, Ora Pearl Truss and Mattie Ruth Truss. He also leaves 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He loved on his two special great niece and nephew, LaShundra Rockett who preceded him in death, and Davonta Rockett, Kosciusko, Ms. like his grandchildren.
