Mom Bell often exercised by walking the track in her hometown of Moss Point where she resided since dropping the "R" in Briggs and becoming a Biggs 76 years ago. Early morning on October 6th, Mom Bell took her last lap around the track. As she walked, she thought over her life. She found joy in making women look their best as she served the community as a beautician for over 40 years. She thought about all the meals she had prepared and how she perfected her fried chicken because she knew her family enjoyed it. She remembered how she enjoyed making her famous nut cake for them. She had a servant's heart and really loved doing things for other people.
As she walked the track, she realized how God had gifted her with longevity having lived 96.5 years. She thought about her son, William (Dawne), who was one of her greatest gifts. She thought about her other children, Lillie, Janetta (Eddie), and James (Willean), who brought so much joy throughout the years. She smiled as she recalled her grandchildren, Antoine Sr. (Willie), Angela, Bill Jr. (Alisha), Jason, James Devon, Chad, Myron, and Jimmie. She was so blessed having the opportunity to experience her great grands, Antoine Jr (Brendayle), Adriannette, Nethaneel, Alexis, Josh, Justin, Tori, Daniel, Janae, and Myluv.
She realized she was tired as she came to what she thought was the end of the track. To her amazement, she saw a road leading from the track that she had never seen before. She thought she heard a familiar voice calling to her. She kept walking toward that voice. She recognized that voice, as she had heard it for a greater portion of her life giving her encouragement and direction. "Come on, Lillie Bell, it is time to come home". She felt she needed a little help navigating that road and just at that moment, she felt a hand holding hers gently leading her. Lillie Bell graciously accepted the hand as she knew exactly who it belonged to. The further she walked down that new road, the better she felt. Her eyes were opened now, and her mind was clear. Up ahead, she heard the cheers of her family as she clung to the hand that was in hers. She saw her parents, Ollie and Lillie, who were waving at her. She saw her 10 siblings, Mary, Ruth, Fannie, Jimmy, Julius, Ollie Jr., Theodore, Willie, Halvester and Esther. She saw her husband of 47 years, Billie, who gave her a wink, her grandson Adrian, and her beloved daughter, Arlene, each of whom she missed so. They were all waiting for her and together with the Lord, whose hand she was still holding, walked toward home. Where the road had been asphalt, now was paved with gold. Mom Bell never looked back, she was glad to be going home.
While she leaves a Son-in-Law James, a Sister-in-Law Ivy Lee, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends, she knows they will be alright because she is with the Lord.
A Lily grew and one day disappeared. After a while, it was discovered that the Lily felt the light from a crack in the wall and the Lily came out on the other side. The Lily still grows beyond the wall
