Mr. Melton Jones, 50, of Albany, Georgia departed this life on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Thankful Baptist Church, GA-91, Newton, GA 39870.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Melton was born in Albany, Georgia to his loving parents, Melvin Jones and Sandra Miller Jones. As the oldest of two children, Melton โMeltโ frequently entertained his sister with imaginatively complicated and fanciful tales. He was blessed with a happy childhood filled with friends and extended family. He accepted God into his heart as a teenager and was baptized at Thankful Baptist Church.
After graduating from Westover High School in 1993, Melton attended Tuskegee University. After a while, he came back to Albany and secured a job at Proctor & Gamble. In 1998, Melton met Pamlia Jones, also of Albany, Georgia. Their love blossomed, and they were married on April 14, 2001.
Melton and Pamlia moved to Alpharetta, Georgia to begin their new life together. Melton took a position at the CDC in which he interacted with research animals. As a teenager, his work with a local vet in Albany cemented his love for animals. So, it was no surprise that his work at the CDC led him to pursue a degree in Biology at Kennesaw State University.
In 2013, Melton experienced a massive heart attack, which forever changed his life. However, it did not change his spirit. He continued to embrace life and people with robust enthusiasm. He was always there to listen to friends, give advice, and encourage healthy living. He never missed a chance to whip up a delicious meal.
To say Melton was a people person does not do justice to the effect he had on everyone he met. Anyone who knew Meton for any length of time has a funny story to tell and a lifelong memory to cherish. His cousins and friends were more like brothers and sisters. Melton had a favorite saying, almost a secret code, reserved exclusively for those cousins and friends: โBaby-foo-fi-Shawn-baby-hoot-ken- bebe.โ
Melton exuded kindness, compassion, and love. He took joy in making people laugh, and he had a talent for humor. With just a facial expression, he could make anything funny. Sadness just did not happen whenever he was near. He was always the light in any darkness. To know Melton was to love him.
On March 18, 2025, Melton lost his long, courageous battle with heart failure. He is survived by his wife, Pamlia Jones; parents, Melvin and Sandra Jones; sister, Marsha Jones; grandmother, Grace Miller; father-in-law, Lawrence Roberts, Sr.; five brothers- in law, Lawrence Jr., Courtney, Damien, Tevin, and Jontavius; two sisters-in-law, Andrea and Kenadei; aunts, Shirley, Nan, Berta, Deborah, Dorothy, and Chrisna; uncle, Hosea Miller; six nieces, Makiya, Madison, Malea, Brooklynn, Olauria, and Makayla; three goddaughters, Amber, Alexis, and Sydney; one godbrother, Dextric; childhood best friend, Rushiel; and a host of cousins, dear friends, and countless people who loved him.
