Sebron B. Fitzpatrick Jr., born on October 26, 1936 in Fort Davis, Alabama, entered into eternal rest on January 5, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Sebron B. Fitzpatrick Sr. and Elzie Horton Fitzpatrick.
Sebron graduated from Macon County High School before serving his country with honor in the United States Army from August 31, 1955 to July 3, 1957, achieving the rank of Specialist First Class before being honorably discharged. His commitment to service remained a guiding principle throughout his life. After serving his country he worked as a motorman for the New York City Transit Authority until he retired.
In 1985, Sebron married the love of his life, Lucille Foster-Fitzpatrick. Together they built a life filled with love and joy until her passing in September 2011. After his retirement in 1990, Sebron moved to Chicago and later to Gainesville in 2002 when Lucille retired.
A man of deep faith, Sebron accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a young age and devoted himself to ministry throughout his life. He faithfully served at Elizabeth Baptist Church in Fort Davis, Alabama; Emmanuel Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois; and Westside Baptist Church in Gainesville, Florida. His spiritual journey was marked by prayer, biblical reading, biblical study and service within the Sunday School, Leadership Development and Mission Ministries. One of the many ways he shared his faith with others was by hosting small group Bible Study in his home.
Sebron was known as "Mr. Fix It” and the “Family Handyman” always ready to tackle any project with skill and enthusiasm. He enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends, road trips to visit loved ones and serving in ministry.
He is preceded in death by his parents Sebron B. Fitzpatrick Sr. and Elzie Horton Fitzpatrick; his wife Lucille Foster-Fitzpatrick; his sister Marinda Annette Doll; and brother-in-law Jeff Doll Jr.
He leaves behind his sister Ida M. Robbins; nieces Bobbie R. Wright, Elaine Phillips and Jennifer Cheatham; nephews Jesse Fitzpatrick, Ronald Fields, Gary Fitzpatrick and Jeff Doll III (Karlette); along with a host of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
Sebron B. Fitzpatrick Jr. will be remembered as a devoted Christian and a loving family man whose kindness and generosity touched all who knew him. Our family has lost our beloved Patriarch, his guiding presence will be deeply missed. May he rest peacefully in the hands of Almighty God.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Chestnut Funeral Home in Gainesville, Florida and McKenzie's Funeral Home in Tuskegee, Alabama.
