Ryan Eric Franklin was born to Kathy M. Carter Franklin and the late Eugene Franklin. He passed into eternal life on April 22, 2024.
He was a member of Monumental AME Church in Steelton, PA. In his youth, he participated in the YPD, Ushers, Choir, and Cub Scouts. He was a graduate of Steelton-Highspire High School. As a Raider and Steel-High Roller, Ryan was part of the football and basketball teams. He was currently employed at Harristown Properties, Strawberry Square in Harrisburg, PA. Ryan was one of those individuals who actually enjoyed working. Sick, tired, or whatever, he was going to work. Ryan worked his shift on Monday, April 22, a few hours before he transitioned.
Ryan was his motherβs partner, sidekick and travel buddy. When you would see Kathy, you would see Ryan. They were like peanut butter and jelly and their interactions with each other were hilarious.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Franklin and his brother, Charles Franklin. Ryan will be missed by his mother, Kathy M. Scott of Harrisburg; his wife, Shamia Williams Franklin of Maryland, his daughter, Lailani of Harrisburg; his brother, Michael Franklin of Harrisburg; his three nieces, Khadijah Hymon, Mykaela Franklin and Deaira Franklin, all of Harrisburg; his nephew, Michael Franklin, Jr. of Harrisburg; four stepchildren; his two cousin/brothers, Carl and Kasean; his aunts, Sharon, Karla, Marcie, Tish and Tyronda; his uncles, Alan, Dale, Hearst and Duane, Sr.; his godmother, Patricia Banks; great nieces, great nephews, numerous cousins, extended family and friends. We will see you in the morning.
Ryan's life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing and visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
