Obituary For Ross Bowman

Ross “RB” Carter Bowman was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Jessie Eileen (Carter) Bowman and the late Daniel Dean Bowman.

Ross was baptized at an early age in The First Baptist Church of Steelton at its former location on Adams Street. Ross was educated in the Steelton, PA School District and was a graduate of the Steelton-Highspire High School class of 1965.

In 1967 Ross was united in Holy Matrimony with the late Elayne “Poochie” Mack. His employment path included the Harrisburg State Hospital and the American Can Company.

RB enjoyed watching high school and college football and basketball games and every year he would attend the Penn Relays and Track and Field events in Philadelphia, PA. His favorite pro football team was the Dallas Cowboys. He was a jazz enthusiast and an amateur photographer. Ross loved shopping and he was a dapper dresser.

On Sunday, June 18, 2023 Ross entered into eternal rest at the University of PA hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his eldest daughter Briggette by his side.

In addition to his parents, his eldest sister, Lydia E. Bowman Parker preceded him in death and Ross leaves to cherish precious memories of him, his daughters, Briggette Bowman of Atlanta, Georgia, Nicole Waters (Spencer) of Cary, North Carolina; his son, Ross Purdy of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his three brothers, Jesse M. Bowman (Norita) of Hemet, California, Marlyn D. Bowman (Loretha) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland and Daniel Bowman of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his four sisters, Elissa L. Brown (Thomas) of Steelton, Pennsylvania, Vanessa D. Bowman, Natalie A. Bowman and Beverly E. Bowman Thomas (George), all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, his stepmother, Rose Bowman of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023 in the Sanctuary of The First Baptist Church of Steelton, 1850 S. 19th St., Harrisburg with viewing and visitation 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
