Ralph L. Richardson, Sr. “Kit” was born in Harrisburg, PA son of the late Charles Fitzgerald and the late Ellen E. Richardson Fitzgerald. He received his formal education in the Harrisburg School District. He was an employee of Local 1180 Labor Union where he was reliable and hard working for over 45 years.
Kit was a man of many talents and hobbies. He was also a handyman and a Jack of all Trades. He loved spending time with his family and fishing. He was an avid Eagles and Sixers fan and the best trash talker when it came to his sports teams. He is well known for sitting on his porch during the warm months talking to his favorite neighbors next door as well as across the street or friends and family that happen to drive or walk by.
On December 24, 1960, he was united in holy matrimony with Barbara Ann Moore and their union was blessed with five children; three sons and two daughters. Kit was a kind and loving partner to the love of his life, Barb for over 50 years, until her transition into eternal life in 2016. He was an amazing father to his children and grandchildren, known as Pop Pop or Uncle to many who surely all have a funny story to tell of his shenanigans. He loved life and brought so much joy, encouragement, and advice to all who came in contact with him.
Kit peacefully transitioned at home on November 16, 2022, of Prostate Cancer which he lived with for over 18 years, surrounded by the love of his children and grandchildren laughing and joking to the end. He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy, Ellen “Ellie” Shanklin (John) of Madison, Alabama, Ralph L. “Cochise” Richardson, Jr. of Suffolk, Virginia, Joseph “Tuffy” Richardson of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Carol Ann Thompson (Raymond) of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Tyrone Richardson (Karen) of Atlanta, Georgia and Vennie Jones, of Maryland; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will truly miss him dearly.
His life will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 12 p.m. in Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church, 2447 Green Street, Harrisburg with viewing 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery.
COVID-19 Guidelines will be observed with face masks for all attendees.
