Mark Anthony McArthur, 64, of Harrisburg, PA, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024. Born to Janie Mae Jackson McArthur and the late Howard McArthur, Jr., Mark was a proud graduate of John Harris High School. He spent much of his career as a forklift operator at the New Cumberland Army Depot, known for his dedication and skill.
A humble man with a gift for craftsmanship, Mark could fix anything and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed Sunday gatherings, card games, and creating playful nicknames for loved ones. His lasagna was legendary, a dish that always brought people together.
Mark’s deep faith and love for his family were the foundation of his life. Though not tech-savvy, he cherished the simple joys of life and valued his relationships above all. Mark was also a devoted fan of the Lakers and Steelers, and his laughter and warmth will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved son, Mark Andrew McArthur of Vauxhall, New Jersey; his daughter, Cherette Marie McArthur of Harrisburg, PA; his mother, Janie Mae Jackson McArthur; step-mother, Delores McArthur; brothers, Michael Keith and Marlin McArthur; sisters, Lisa Green-Powell (Wilbert “Pete”), Marcy McArthur-Mitchell (Myron), all of Harrisburg, PA and Melinda McArthur of Columbus, Ohio. He also leaves behind his great-uncle, Wardell Robinson of Buffalo, NY; uncles, Larry and Randy McArthur of Harrisburg, PA; aunts, Mary McKinney of Harrisburg, PA and Martha McArthur of Easton, PA; 5 grandchildren, Rashien Amien Phillips, Ny’Jah Marie Phillips, Cherae Tyanna Phillips, Aijalaya Nishae McArthur-Carey, Jayceon Irvin; great-grandson, Karter LaVince Pate and great grandson-to-be, Amien Phillips, all of Harrisburg, PA; “brother of the heart”, Arnell Hill (Stephanie); dear cousin, Frank Cornelius (Wylean) of Harrisburg, PA; 11 nieces, 4 nephews, along with a host of family and friends who will remember him fondly.
Mark's life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 in the Sanctuary of Turner Memorial Baptist Church, 130 Watson Street, Steelton with viewing and visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in Paxtang Cemetery.
