Obituary For Kevin Mitchell

Kevin James Mitchell, 71, of Harrisburg peacefully transitioned to his loving Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the Select Medical Specialty Hospital in Harrisburg.

He was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania son of the late James T. Mitchell and Julia Lee (Jones) Mitchell, a graduate of the Susquehanna Township High School and was a faithful member of the Bridge of Faith Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon and elder.

After high school, Kevin made the decision to register for the service and dedicated four years to the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the service, Kevin was employed by the former Bethlehem Steel Company of Steelton for 28 years. During his time with Bethlehem Steel, Kevin became very involved with his church. He spent his life serving others. He truly enjoyed the outdoors and it soon became a ministry for him to better connect with the men of his church. His greatest joy was becoming a father to his son, Kevin II and his two daughters, Candace Lenise and Carmen Lanette. He enjoyed spending time with his children, siblings and friends.

In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his daughter, Candace and his sister, Theodessa “Teddy” Wise. He leaves to celebrate his life, his son, Kevin Mitchell II; his daughter, Carmen (Mitchell) Dolphin; his brother, Tyrone Mitchell; his sister, Diana Lee (Mitchell) Lynch; his three grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

His life will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 7th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, 704 North Front Street, Steelton, with viewing and visitation 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home Corp. COVID-19 Guidelines will be observed with face masks for all attendees.
