He received his formal education in the Harrisburg Public School District and graduated from John Harris High School in 1963 where he was in the school choir.
During his working career, James was a constructor worker, member of Laborers’ Local Union 1180. He worked various sites in Pennsylvania. For many years at Three Mile Island including the TMI accident in 1979. James continued to work while his wife, Linda, stayed home to take care of their children. After retirement, James was promoted to the Retiree Council as the Secretary Treasurer on October 4, 2007.
James was married for 50 years to the late Linda Darlene Barbour of Harrisburg. They married on Christmas Day in 1964. Their union was blessed with three children, James M. Jordan III, Sonya L. Jordan and Yvette M. Jordan. James also had a daughter, Veronica Jones, from a prior relationship.
James was God-fearing, strong willed, very kind and had a huge heart. He was a member of Crossover Ministries under Pastor Chuck Lamon. He was ordained Deacon on August 21, 2022.
James played softball with the company/union softball team. He loved football. Spending Sunday afternoons yelling at the TV. He was affectionately called “Junnie” by his wife and Mr. June by the neighborhood kids who all loved him dearly. He was known to have the kids climb into the back of his El Camino and take them to Dairy Queen or the playground. He was the ultimate family man. He took care of his family, making sure that every night the entire family had dinner together and he cooked breakfast on the weekends. According to his children, James was a fun, silly a big kid. HE loved spending time with family, especially during the holidays. He also loved to read and sing.

To the Jordan Family Our payers and condolences go out to your family. I remember how Mr. June would make Ms Linda smile with his silly actions. Especially when she would tell him that he could not dance. He would tell her that he could dance and would start finger snapping and wiggling around her! I never saw him sad! Find comfort in knowing that he is resting with Ms Linda Lisa Spriggs and Family

My condolences to James family. I only knew James for a short time. I worked at his Retirement Community and had the pleasure of seeing him and laughing with him every day. He was the first resident that I got to meet and we formed a special friendship that I will always remember. He could be serious at times but mostly he loved to laugh and tell stories. I was blessed to have him come into my life and I miss him dearly as many of his friends do. Thank you for being a great friend and my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Miss you my friend.
