CHRISTINE JOYCE FLETCHER, the daughter of the late Joseph Sanno and the late Alpharetta Mariah (nee Purdy) Sanno, was born in Mount Holly Springs, Pennsylvania.
She received her formal education in the Carlisle School District; graduated from Carlisle High School and went on to attend Business School.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Harold Fletcher.
During her working career she worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation, from where she retired.
Having accepted the Lord as her personal savior she was a faithful and active member of the Camp Curtin Memorial Mitchell United Methodist Church for more than thirty years prior to it’s closing in June 2019. She attended Sunday School, was a member of the United Methodist Women, and provided numerous greeting cards through her card ministry. She had a special interest in the Christian Education Organization at the church and regularly gave monetary donations to the ministry.
She studied her Bible and enjoyed the reading the Bible and The Daily Word publication every day. She also enjoyed reading, taking walks, doing crossword puzzles and watching football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Animals held a special place in her heart, and she cherished her cat Kitty and her dog Herbie.
She was a beautiful, precious, sweet, kind, classy, humble lady with a soft-spoken spirit and infectious smile. She was very caring and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was loved and adored by many and affectionally known as Ms. Fletcher, Tink, Chris, Chrissy and everyone’s Grandmom.
At the age of 95 years, Christine transitioned from this earthly life into eternal life on Monday, March 10, 2025, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
She leaves to cherish her legacy and precious memories, two bonus granddaughters, Debbie Sanders and Bonita Lasanta, who were also her caregivers; 5 grandchildren, Anthony Washington, whom she raised from an infant, Kenneth Washington, Jabare Fairclough, Dianne Vereen and Delores Jordan; 4 great-nephews, Jerry Evans, Scott Evans, Jose Wagner and Andre Wagner; 3 great-nieces, Sharon Samuel, Victoria Evans and Candice Cloutier Evans; 14+ great-great nieces and nephews; 20+ great-great-great nieces and nephews; 20+ great-great-great-great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Christine's life will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Thursday, March 20, 2025 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing and visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12 Noon and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery.
