Carol Louise Siple-Baylor, born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to George E. Siple and Louise D. Gassert, passed away suddenly on Monday March 10, 2025, after a brief illness. She was raised by her grandparents, Thomas and Catherine Gassert and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Baylor, her parents, her grandparents and her brothers, Lester, Thomas and John Edmondson.
A proud 1965 graduate of William Penn High School in Harrisburg, Carol furthered her education at Harrisburg Area Community College. Throughout her life, Carol dedicated many years to serving her community. She worked as a medical secretary at various local hospitals, retiring from Holy Spirit Hospital in 2011. After retirement, she continued to work part-time as a bus monitor for Boyo and Krise Transportation until her final retirement in 2024. Carol attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Swatara Congregation.
Carol was an enthusiastic sports fan with a passion for the North Carolina Tarheels, the Philadelphia Eagles and her all-time favorite team, the Harrisburg High Cougars. She was a regular attendee at Cougar football and basketball games over the years and she took great joy in cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they pursued their athletic endeavors. In addition to sports, Carol enjoyed playing computer games, beach vacations and most of all, spending quality time with her family and friends.
A great conversationalist, Carol had a kind word for everyone she met, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Carol's kindness was especially evident in her role as "Nanny" to many student-athletes, who fondly adopted her as a second grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Carol is survived by her four daughters, Karyn Brown (Gary), Kelly Wilson (Shawn), Kendra Siple and Kira Wilson (Clarence Woods); the grandson she raised, Michael Ford, Jr.; her stepchildren, Robin Smith, Tamika Howard, Stephanie Pressley, Tiffaney Proctor, Heather Thoman, Tonya Baltimore, Thomas Baltimore, Jr., Terry Baltimore, Robert K. Baylor, Robert Wilkerson, Yoseph Wilkerson and Patrice Baylor-Poole.
Carolโs legacy lives on through her beloved grandchildren, Branden Gilmore, Gary Brown, Jr., Kellen Brown, Lance Wilson, Tye Davis II, Jahmel Reese and Elijah Barret; as well as her granddaughters, Janae Reese, Kourtney Wilson, TyLiah Jackson, Nyazia and Lu'Niah Brown; her granddaughters-in-love, Nicole, Breโan and Erika; her ten great-grandchildren, Chantea, Branden II, Kye, Kole, Joshua, Demarion, Kolin, Brelan, Brayden and Elijah, Jr. Carol is also remembered by a host of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will cherish her memory.
Carol Louise Siple-Baylorโs life was marked by love, kindness and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Her memory will forever be in our hearts, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Karen & Family My deepest condolences on the loss of your Mother, may God give you Peace and Strength as you navigate during this time.
I will always remember Carol Siple as one of the brightest sparks of magic. During my years as a Baseball Coach for Midget Baseball of Harrisburg. She truly loved the game, and sent her daughter Kira Siple. Who at age 10. Became the first girl in the history of any baseball in the city of Harrisburg PA. To make it to and then pitch in an All-star game. Striking out the top of the lineup against Middletown PA. With 60 mile and hour pitches. Giving her a place in history . Protected by the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission. Which forced Midget Baseball of Harrisburg to allow girls to play forever in All- Star games. In death, Carol Siple's Legacy lives on forever. Thank you for your service. From Coach Rasheed.
My condolences to you and your family. I remember Mrs. Carol from the baseball field and how she interacted with the children and parents. She supported all of them so much including the coaches. You will truly be missed.
