OBITUARY:
Gloria Dean Redmond affectionately known as Chubby, was born on April 2, 1948 to the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Mary (Banks) Redmond in Sidon, Mississippi.
Gloria attended Amanda Elzy High School in Greenwood, MS Gloria moved to Chicago with her first son Percy (Kip) and would go on to have another son Clarence (Bull) and one daughter, Antoinette (CheChe).
Gloria worked at Wilcox and Follett Book Distribution for twenty three years, originally in the warehouse and later working as a Data Entry Assistance.
Gloria returned to Mississippi in the early 2000's residing in Tchula. Gloria worked at the Tchula Public Library as a Library Assistant. She was also a participant in the NCBA (National Caucus of Black Americans) as a Library Aide. Gloria also worked off and on as a Home Care Assistance to the elderly.
Among her siblings she was known as the Auntie that could always be counted on to have fun with her no nonsense personality, love for music and big heart.
In Gloria later years, she enjoyed staying home watching Law and Order and First 48 on T. V., talking to her daughter, granddaughters and sisters on the phone. Gloria also had several friends whom over the years became extended family to Gloria.
Gloria departed this life and entered into eternity on February 27, 2020 at Merit Health Central in Jackson, MS., with her daughter at her bedside. Gloria was also preceded in death by sons Percy and Clarence Redmond; sister, Mildred Dodds; two brothers, Arthur and Nathan (Sonny) Redmond; and one brother-in-law, Chester Speed.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memories; daughter; Antoinette Redmond, San Diego, CA; three sisters, Vern Speed and Laura (Ree), both in the state of IL., and Carrie Silas, Milwaukee, MI; one aunt, Jimmie Neal Banks, Tchula, MS; sister-in-law, Lucille Redmond, Jackson, TN; five granddaughters, Khandez (Dontrell), Deja, Maleah, Latoya and Marquita; two grandsons, Devon and Remere; fifteen great-grandkids; a special niece, Mildred(Prentiss) Douglas, Chicago, IL; and an abundance of family and friends.
