OBITUARY:

Emma Lou Dean-Lacy ("Suh" as she was known) was born on February 12, 1960 in Tchula, MS to the late Clarrie and Richard Dean, Sr. Emma departed this life Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the University of Mississippi (Lexington), with her family close by her side.

Emma received her education at Tchula Attendance Center (Class of 1978). Later, Emma became an Entrepreneur in Tchula. Emma will forever be remembered as a big part of the Gwin Community with her business (Gwin Snack Bar), where she loved and favored by the kids of the Gwin Community. She was also a long-time employee with First Ckass Linen.

Enma confessed her life to Christ at an early age. She joined Nazareth M.B. Church in the Gwin Community of Tchula, MS under the leadership of the late Rev. Robert Luckett, Sr., where she remained a member under the leadership of Rev. Lazarus Taylor, III until God called her home. Regardless of her condition, Emma believed in God and was a person of Faith. She was often the source of strength for her family and friends in tough times and would make every effort, as her health allowed, to be present in creating memories with her family and friends. She lived her life humbly serving her community.

Emma was married to the late Darnell Lacy of Lexington, MS.

Emma was the sixth of seven siblings. Her parents(Clarrie and Richard Dean), her husband (Darnell Lacy), her four sisters (Jeanette, Dorothy, Ora and Leonia), one brother(Richard Townson) and a nephew(Terrell Dean) all preceded her in death.

Memories of life with Emma will be cherished by her two children, Nikita Dean Hogan and Darnell Dean both of Tchula, MS; five grandchildren, Chankeitha Dean, Kim'eika Crosby and NiKeydra Hogan of Tchula, MS; Laci and Legacy Dean of Jackson, MS; and two great grands Kyndal and Kendon Head of Tchula, MS.

Holding a vault filled with more fond memories from childhood forward is her loving family that includes her two sisters, Polly Dean of Tchula, MS and Mattie Williams of Grand Rapids, MI; three brothers, Richard Dean and Willie (Erma) Dean, and Rome Townsend, all Tchula, MS; two aunts, Blanche Smith of Peoria, IL and Mary Helen Smith of Chicago, IL; daughter in law (Felicia Hill);and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She also leaves to cherish her memories with her friends, Rogerine Johnson and Shirley Brown.

The Lacy Family will also cherish their memories with Emma. The family remained an active part of her life until her death
