Deacon Frank Baylis:
Deacon Frank Baylis, 88, died on March 30, 2022 at his home in Silver Creek, MS. Services for Deacon Baylis were held Saturday, April9, 2022 at Pearl River Valley Baptist Church, with Pastor Dr. Michael Graves officiating. Interment was in the Pearl River Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, with Laird Mortuary in charge of all arrangements.
Deacon Baylis, affectionately called “Tic Tac” attended the Lawrence County Training School in Monticello where he played on the very first organized football team.
Deacon Baylis joined the China Lee Baptist Church and after marring the love of his life he joined the Pearl River Baptist Church. Deacon Baylis served on the Adult and Male Choir, the Usher Board, and a faithful and dedicated Deacon until his death. Deacon Baylis was a Mason with the M. W. Monticello Lodge #348 with his 33rd Degree. Deacon Mason was also lifetime member of the NAACP.
Deacon Frank Baylis was employed with the Illinois Central Railroad, Sunbeam Bread Company, U. S. Steel Cooperation (Great Lakes), Owner Operator of Frank Baylis Pulpwood Company and retired from Five County Public Transportation at the age of 80. Deacon Baylis was an avid hunter and fisherman who taught all of his sons and grandsons to hunt and fish.
Deacon Baylis loved spending time with his family and attending sporting events in Lawrence County, and surrounding area (no matter the distance) he was there to support all of his family members and friends. Deacon Baylis had his own parking space and seat at Lawrence County Stadium.
Deacon Baylis was proceeded in death by his wife Doris Maxine Baylis; one son, Rosscell Baylis; grandsons Ricky Barnes Jr and Richard Bennard Barnes..
Deacon Frank Baylis is survived by his loving children; Margaret, Franklin D,. Loretta (Ricky Sr.), Cathy (Jimmie), Patricia Annette (Joe), Gaynell, Debra (Chris, Patsy, Eddie and Cassandra (Michael); twenty grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister Henrine Cunningham, Oakland, CA; three brothers Robert and Hurriah Baylis, Riverside, CA and Glen Baylis, Florence, OR; special niece Alexis Hood and three bonus daughters Dr. Pekola Roberts, Earlene Davis, and Liz Roberson, dear cousin and friend, Rev. Alvin Bridges and a host of other relatives friends and community friends.
