Susie Romero, 89, passed away on October 9, 2015 in T. or C., New Mexico. She was born on October 17, 1925 to Martin and Dolores Miranda in Chloride, New Mexico. She married her childhood “pal” Merced Romero, on his return from fighting in the European Theater of World War II. Susie was a devoted wife and Mother, raising their three sons, while Merced worked road construction all over the state. And, she was always there to lend a helping hand in caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Susie is survived by her three sons: Ray (April) Romero of Cuchillo, NM; David Romero of Mesa, AZ; Marvin Romero of San Tan Valley, AZ; seven grandchildren: Marvin Romero, Chandler, AZ; Kristy Romero-Cummings, Robert Lee, TX; Michelle Wicketts, Reserve, NM; Davey Romero and Lance Romero, Colorado Springs, CO; eleven great-grandchildren: Chantel, TJ, Dylan, Dakota, Destiny, Christopher, Andrea, Marcus, Shayly, Payson and Adeline and one great-great granddaughter, Catalya Rae Loera. Also surviving are two sisters, Dolores Brown of Silver City, NM and Chana Brown of Perris, California and one brother, Claudio (Mabel) Miranda; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her special friend, Elma Torres and daughter-in-law, Lynn Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Dolores Miranda, her husband, Merced Romero, five brothers – Elfego, Camilio, Gene, Frank and Martin Miranda and one sister, Mary Luisa Miranda. Viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 in the Chapel of Kirikos Family Funeral Home from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. and a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Rev. Marcos O. Reyna officiating followed by Rite of Committal at Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery.
