It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Raquel Nunez, who departed from this world on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. She was a beacon of love, strength, and unwavering kindness, and her presence touched the lives of all who knew her.
Born on September 16, 1945 in Momax, Zacatecas, Mexico. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Jose Nunez Covarrubias. Raquel, a devoted loving and supporting mother to 9 children: Jose Luis (Terry), Maria Soledad, Norma (Brian), Juan (Max), Lucy (Richard), Maria Luisa, Arturo (Bethany), Ricardo, Daniel (Laken). She has 14 grandchildren, Aylsa (Andres), Kurtis (Cheyenne), Jacquelene, Iris (Carlos), Andres, Edith, Marisa, James, Rachel, Natalie, Eddie, Nehemiah, Analysa, Leia; 7 great grandchildren: Kason, Aven, Janaya, Honey, Scarlet, James and Emily; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 6 siblings: Ricardo (Velia), Teresa (Refugio), Francisca (Gregorio), Francisco (Arcelia), Abelardo (Patricia), Anita (Filemon).
Her role as a mother extended far beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of grandchildren, extended family, and friends, who were all recipients of her unwavering care and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Rosary/Prayer Vigil is scheduled for Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. led by Sister Marie Paul at San Isidro Catholic Church in Garfield, New Mexico where the Mass will be celebrated thereafter with Father Michael Williams.
