Jana Nicole Brinkley, formerly Harper, née Burbaugh
Jana loved being surrounded by friends and family. She adored her children with unmatched ferocity. Her life was defined by barely controlled chaos interspersed with moments of quiet, usually enjoyed by being in or near the water. She had a big heart and took care of anyone in need without reservation. The world is a little quieter without her.
Jana was forceful, chaotic, and wonderful. She left an indelible mark on everyone she ever met. She was, and is, unforgettable. We hope that now she finally gets to swim, play, and fish forever.
Jana passed away on February 24, 2025 at home, surrounded by family. She is survived by her three children: Cheyenne, Toni, and Ethan Harper, as well as her bonus children Tommy and Patience Harper, and her grandson. She is also survived by her mother and stepfather, Sharon and Thomas Enrietta; her father, Joseph Burbaugh; and her eldest brother, Justin Burbaugh, Sr. She is survived by her bonus sisters, Alicia and Destiny, and her grandmother, Caroline Nible.
Jana is also survived by her first husband and the father of her children, Tony Harper; her mother- and stepfather-in-law, Diana and John Glidewell; and her stepmother-in-law, Betty Harper. Additionally, she is survived by many uncles, aunts, numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, and a large number of cousins. She also leaves behind several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jason Nathaniel Burbaugh; her Papa, Norman Nible; and her father-in-law, Mack Harper, Sr. These are the people she held most dear in her life.
My gratitude to Dr. Karen Fiato, Dr. Charles Gallegos, and his team at UNM, as well as Sierra Hospice. My love and appreciation to all mentioned above for their love and care for Jana. I will miss her terribly and await the day when she tells me, “What’s behind the moon?” I’ve loved you all of your life. ~ Mom
Jana wished for a Facebook Live celebration and a beach party. A celebration is being planned for early Spring.
