Obituary For Barbara D. Massengill

Barbara Daves Massengill of Caballo, New Mexico, passed away in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on Saturday, January 13, 2018. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Massengill. She was born in 1934 to Raleigh and Hermena (Cox) Daves in Burlington, North Carolina. After a career raising a family and working for the state of North Carolina, they retired to New Mexico. Barbara was a creative person and accomplished artist all her life. She opened a gallery in Hillsboro, New Mexico and found award winning acclaim. She enjoyed the scenery and animals of New Mexico both in her art and her heart. Barbara is survived by her children - Carol Rudisill and spouse, Ladi Markham, of Oakland, CA; Allan Rudisill and spouse, Darlene Rudisill, of Kasiloff, AK; Lynn Porter and spouse, Marley Porter, of Marble Falls, TX; grandson, Brandon Griffith and spouse, Melissa Griffith, of Austin, Tx; brother, Raleigh Daves, of Graham NC; sister, Linda Malone, of Albuquerque, NM; and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at the Hillsboro Cemetery in Hillsboro, NM. Immediately followed by a gathering of friends and family at her Hillsboro Gallery.
