Robert Mills was born on December 9 in Camak, Georgia to the late Hubert and Matlen Mills.
He transitioned to his heavenly home on January 20, 2025. He succumbed at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Robert was educated in the public schools of Richmond County. After he graduated from Lucy Craft Laney High School, he joined the Naval Reserve, where he served for eight years. After his tenure in the NavelReserve, he was employed as an agent for the Pilgrim Life Insurance Company. Robert was quickly elevated to Manager of the Savannah District. It was in Savannah that he me the love of his life, Carolyn to whom he was married for sixty-two years. While he managed the Savannah District, he was awarded Manager of the Year on three separate occasions. Following his work in the Savannah, Robert was promoted to the home office of Pilgrim Health and Life Insurance Company in the position of Vice-President of the claims division. He had a long productive career at Pilgrim, including a CLU certification. When Pilgrim Health and Life Insurance Company closed, Robert pursued a career in barbering. He became a certified Master Barber and taught barbering for twenty-seven years at Southern Barber College. He also worked in barbering at East Central Regional Hospital for several years. Robert also taught barbering at Augusta Technical College for a semester.
At an early age, Robert accepted Christ into his life as his personal Lord and Savior. He Bethel AME Church where he was a faithful servant. He was a member of the Trustee Board, served as Men’s Day Chairman and Sunday School Superintendent. Robert enjoyed life and lived in richness and fullness as a Child of God.
Robert was preceded in death by: sister, Catherine Love; and brothers, Henry, Tyrone and Freddie Mills. Robert leaves to cherish his memory: loving and devoted wife of sixty-two years, Carolyn; devoted son, Robert (Beverly) Todd Mills; four grandchildren, Christoper Mills, Chantal Sampson, Kayla Mills and Brittany Mills; great grandson, Camron Sampson; brothers, George (Yvonne) Mills, Thomas Mills and Thaddeus (Geraldine) Mills; sisters, Marilyn (Alvin), Annette Singleton and Gail (Parodio) Maith; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Viewing will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A celebration of life will held Monday, January 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel AME Church, 623 Crawford Avenue, Augusta, Georgia.
Mausoleum entombment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

So sorry to hear about Mr. Mills passing. I worked with him during the 90s at Pilgrim. Mr. Mills was a good man and kind hearted. He and his wife were a beautiful couple.
