Lucious Green was born on April 29, 1932 in Warrenton, Ga to the late John Wesley Green Sr. and Josephine Green. He accepted Christ into his life at an early age. He was a faithful member and Deacon at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Warrenton, Ga for over 60 years. He later joined Harmony Baptist Church in Augusta, Ga.
He moved to Augusta in his twenties and eventually met and married his late wife Mary Alice Green and to this union five children were born.
Deacon Green retired from GA Pacific after 25 years of employment. He previously worked for Babcock & Wilcox until they closed down. After retiring from full-time work, he stayed working part-time with Augusta Net Transportation and the Salvation Army. Deacon Green has been a dedicated member of the Paradise #677 Lodge Masonic order of the Masons. Lucious would often fellowship and attend lodge meetings with his Masonic brothers.
Lucious was preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice Green; his daughter Vanessa Green; his father and mother John W. Green Sr., and Josephine Green; sisters Cloria Castleberry, Mae Rose Norris, Mary Lou Bloomfield, Edith Story, Bettey Green; brothers Robert Green, Roosevelt Green, and John Wesley Green Jr.
Lucious enjoyed spending his time attending celebrations, outings and vacations with his children and family.
He leaves to cherish his memory, five children; Carl L. Green (Atlanta, Ga), Valerie D. Green (Hephzibah, Ga), Wanda F. Green (Rex, Ga), Cynthia Green JuBeark (Hampton, Ga),and Lucious Brandon Green (Decatur, Ga).
Lucious, affectionately called “PaPa” by his nine loving grandchildren, Rashaun L. (Erica) Hynson, Dominique “Cory” Green, Carlton L. Wilder, Alexis Mary Alice Ross, Montico D. JuBeark, Montero D. JuBeark, Xzavier S. Green, Zion D. Green, and Yasmin Mary Alice Green and six great-grandchildren.
Lucious leaves three adoring sisters, Florene Harris, Marie Cody, and Wylene Thorpe; one loyal brother-in law, Willie J. Mackey; a devoted & dedicated nephew, Ronnie B. Green; and three fond Godchildren William “Lynwood” Holmes, Kelly R. Anthony, Courtney Anthony; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Harmony Baptist Church, 928 Hopkins Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901.
Interment will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, Hephzibah, Georgia.
