Mr. Kenneth Campfield, 73, of Hephzibah, Georgia, entered eternal rest on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the Burke Health Medical Center, Waynesboro, Georgia. Born October 4, 1949, he was the second of three children born to the late Mr. James Campfield and Madeline Wilkerson Campfield in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The first child died at childbirth. Kenneth and his brother, Jerry, lost their biological mother at an early age. The two boys were sent down south to their devoted grandmother, the late Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Wilkerson, in Allendale, South Carolina, so that they would not be separated. The State of New Jersey placed the two boys under the supervision of a loving aunt, the late Mrs. Lottie Taylor of Jamaica, New York who mothered and ensured the boys were provided the love, support and training they would need in order to make a mark upon history.

Kenneth received his early education from Carroll Vincent Bing Elementary and High School in Allendale, South Carolina, graduating third in his class with honors, May 1967. Kenneth also received teachings, spiritual training, and wisdom from his grandmother. In high school, Kenneth excelled in his educational and athletic pursuits. Kenneth played all school sports which included basketball, football, baseball, and track and field. Kenneth was a dedicated member of his High School Choir and Marching Band.

In September of 1967, Kenneth enrolled at Paine College Augusta, Georgia and received a B. S. Degree (Biology) in May, 1971. He also furthered his studies at Augusta State College in Augusta, Georgia.

He retired in 2011 as a Senior Technical Training Manager at the Westinghouse Savannah River Site, Department of Energy Tritium Facility after thirty-five years of employment.

He was a lifelong member of Macedonia CME Church, Allendale, South Carolina where he served in many capacities including Chairman of the Board of Stewards, member of the Senior Choir, Senior Usher, Sunday School Superintendent, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was instrumental in implementing the “Be Thou Removed” forum for the Men’s Ministry formulated to address experiences, fears and support for one another regarding prostate cancer and other diseases which affect men. He also served as a delegate to the General and Annual CME Conferences. Mr. Campfield was a 33rd degree Mason and a Past Grand Master of Masons for Smooth Ashlar Grand Lodge in the state of Georgia. He also served in many capacities on state and national levels.

He was Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Kenneth Campfield Community Outreach Foundation, Inc. a non-profit organization in the state of Georgia. He dedicated his life to helping everyone and his commitment is known worldwide. His vision was to help foster programs that would enhance people’s lives in our communities. He developed relationships with many community-based organizations, community action groups, faith-based ministries, foundations, and corporate enterprises to enhance corporate team work, partnerships, and collaboration.

Mr. Campfield’s legacy will be cherished by his wife of twenty-six years, Charlotte; brothers, David and Jerome (Julia) Campfield, sisters, Valerie (Tyree) Haslip and Beverly Gail (Will) Jones, sisters-in-love, Pamela Barnes and Bettie (Tossie) Colley; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins along with extended family members and close friends.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Trinity Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (2930 Glenn Hills Drive-Augusta, GA). Public viewing and visitation will be Friday, March 31, 2023, from 5PM-7PM at Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home, 3618 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA. (706) 790-8858.
