Mrs. Elsie Lucille Elliott, 95, entered into rest, Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at her residence in Augusta, GA. She was born on April 19, 1928.
She became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Guthrie, KY., in 1960. She served in various roles within the church to include, church secretary, choir member and Mothers Board member.
Over forty years ago, she retired from Pennyrile Action Community Service. She was very dedicated to her community and served as a poll worker for every election over a fifty-year span. She served on the Board for the Senior Citizen Counsel, member of the Zoning and Planning Commission and was President of the Interfaith Church Coalition in Guthrie, KY. One of her highest honors was being bestowed the title “Kentucky Colonel.” An award given by the governor to recognize an individual’s noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding community service.
Mrs. Elliott is preceded in death by her sixteen sisters and brothers; husband, Rev. Cary Elliott; daughter, Donna Cooper; son, William Cooper.
Her legacy will be cherished by her daughter, Mary (Alvin) Beattie; grandson, D’Avante (Candice) Beattie; great granddaughters, Addison and Lilliana; beloved nieces, Michelle Fisher-Flagan and Deborah Johnson; beloved nephews, Carr Johnson and Nate Carr; and a host of other family and friends.
A celebration of life will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Public viewing, 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home, 3618 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA. (706) 790-8858.
