Chester had a big Heart full of love! He taught me how to play big under the basket and in life. He was a Blessing and made a difference on earth and in life.

It was 1977 when Chester came by my game at Eastern Kentucky University and said,"David Napier, it's about time someone from Hazard came to play at E.K.U." He made me feel welcome to the big E.

Chester....they just don't make men, citizens and friends like you. You always had a warmth about you that everyone could feel. Personally you always made me feel like I was something special as a person, as a man and as an athlete. You gave me words of encouragement, words of love and words of friendship. You could bring a smile on my face on my worse day with that smile of yours.

I am blessed to have known Chester as a high school friend, and throughout his life as worker in Hazard and helper at the Liberty reunion. My sympathies go out to his family.

Chester was one of the most elite basketball players to come out of the state of Kentucky, right up there with his contemporary: Clem Haskins.
