William Earl Midgette, Sr. "Duck", 88, passed on February 26, 2023 after a long illness. He was born on June 17, 1934 in Washington, NC, to the late Archie Lee Sr. and Amanda Brown Midgette. He was the husband of Mattie Kelly Midgette. Mr. Midgette was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the Spartanburg WestCongregation. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 35 years of service and worked 4 years in the Spartanburg County School System afer retiring from the U.S. Postal Service. In addition to his wife of 64 years, he leaves to cherish his 2 daughters: Marie (David Carithers and Sherry Midgette; 4 sons Charles Kelly, William E. Midgette, Jr., Anthony Midgette, and Michael Midgette; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives and friends. Mr. Midgette was the last surviving member of his immediate family and preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin Midgette and Archie L. Midgette Jr. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 575 Crescent Avenue Spartanburg, SC.
