Obituary For Ms. Sophia Facey

Spartanburg, SC – Sophia Facey was born on September 8, 1963 she was the third daughter of Alvin Lloyd Facey and the late Illonka Doreen Chang. She entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 20, 2014. Ms. Facey was a native of Kingston, Jamaica. Sophia was a graduate of St. Pius High School, NJ. She attended Rutgers University and Hahnemann School of Nursing, where she earned her nursing degree. Ms. Facey was a member of Silver Hill Memorial United Methodist Church. She was committed to serving and helping others through community engagement. She leaves behind to mourn her loss: her father; her daughters, Akili and Jamila Jabulani; her sisters, Rosalie Hornbuckle, Christine Facey and Chandra Chang; her nephews, Oscar and Julian Jones, Belton DeLaine-Facey and Malachi Chang-Smith; her dear long-time friends, Marlone Simpson and Dodie Davis; her numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and community friends who were her invaluable support system. Ms. Facey was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Illonka Doreen Chang. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Mr. Leo “Sweetie” Smith and her son, Leo “Pee Wee” Smith, Jr. A Memorial Celebration of the Life of Sophia Facey will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at Silver Hill Memorial United Methodist Church, 778 John B. White Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Dr. Eddie C. Williams will officiate. J.W. Woodward Funeral Home
