Spartanburg, SC – Theodore Brewton, Sr. passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 5, 2017. He was the son of the late Mr. Hathaway Brewton, Sr. and the late Mrs. Bessie Gray Brewton. Mr. Brewton was the devoted husband of sixty-two years to Ella Mae Brewton who preceded him in death. He believed that Jesus Christ was the son of the living God. Mr. Brewton was of the Baptist faith. Everyone affectionately knew him as “Mr. Thad.” Mr. Brewton was a faithful employee for many year with the City of Spartanburg and the Norfolk Southern Railroad (where he retired). His favorite hobbies included gardening, poking around in his fix it shed, caring for others and spending time with his family. Mr. Brewton was preceded in death by his four sisters and three brothers. He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to: his sons, Robert (Deborah) Brewton of Moore, SC, Theodore (Sondra) Brewton, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC, Dr. Arthur L. (Lennetta) Brewton of Spartanburg, SC, David Brewton of Boiling Springs, SC and Timothy (Sonya) Brewton of Boiling Springs, SC; his daughters, Patricia (Joseph) Cohen of Spartanburg, SC, Stacey (Nick) Hicks of Spartanburg, SC and Tina (Walter) Banks, Jr. of Boiling Springs, SC; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of the Life Theodore Brewton, Sr. will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Apostle Willie E. Rookard will officiate. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2310 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC. The family will receive friends at the home, 876 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.
I will miss Mr Brewton at DCI.His winter hat and good attitude about life. He was a Christian and proud of his children.9MXRM
