Kim Michelle Shippy, 57, passed Sunday, November 8, 2020. Kim was born November 10, 1962, in Spartanburg County. She was the daughter of the late Otis Shippy, Jr. and Seena D. Moore-Rookard.
Kim was a graduate of Spartanburg Community College.
She is survived by her loving family: her devoted life partner, Doug Young; her children, Whitney M. Rice, Starr D. Lynch and Kaylon N. Rice; her grandchildren, Ze’ev N. Macomson, Ju’Elz M. Jones; her brothers, Todd F. Shippy, Carlos R. Shippy, Ashley N. Shippy, Otis C. Shippy and Ricky Jones; her sisters, Allison N. Shippy and Rose M, Shippy-Darby and Niesy Smith; sisters-in-law, Gricelda Y. Shippy and Tanisha S. Shippy; son-in-law, Jammie C. Jones; nieces, Sidney D, Shippy, Najee M. Whitney, Alexia S. Shippy, India N. Shippy, Brandy N. Shippy, Jazmine Palmer, Andrea M. Shippy, Courtney M. Shippy and Keauna Darby; nephews, Todd J. Shippy, Zachari C. Murphy, Keondre N. Shippy and Terrance J. Boyd.
Kim was predeceased by: grandmother, Frances Moore; great-aunt, Mary E. Moore; and uncle, William E. Moore.
Due to Covid concerns, a private Celebration of the Life of Kim M. Shippy will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 12:00 noon at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Interment will be open to the public at the East Spartanburg Cemetery, Spartanburg, SC.

Ms. Shippy will lie in state on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the chapel.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ashley N. Shippy, 143 Williston Way, Moore, SC 29369.
To the family of Ms. Kim Shippy, I am so sorry for your loss. Kim was a person who was determined to succeed in a career of helping others. She was a very nice young lady that I came to know. RIP Kim!
