Obituary For Jessie M. McDowell

Mrs. Jessie Mae Miller McDowell entered into
eternal rest on Tuesday. September 13, 2023. She
was born October 3, 1924 in Rutherfordton,
North Carolina to the late Beulah L. Mills and the
late Zenus Miller. Jessie Mae was married to the
late Claude McDowell, Sr.

In addition to her husband and parents she was
preceded in death by: brothers Rev. Chester
Miller and Bill Miller; and two sisters, Aileen
Robinson and Eunice Wilkins.
Mrs. Miller joined Green Creek
Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where
she sang in the choir and became the mother of
the church serving faithfully until her health
declined.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories: are
one son, Claude McDowell, Jr. of Spartanburg,
SC; five daughters, Diane Miller of Inman, SC;
Jessie V. Mills of Spartanburg, SC , Myrtle M.
Griffin of Spartanburg, SC ,Brenda McDowell of the home; three sisters, Ophelia Boyce of Croton-
on-Hudson, NY, Kate Fant of New York, NY and Lorraine Davis of Charlotte, NC; her brother-in-
law; her sister-in-law; special friend, The Honorable Jimmy Twitty; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will beheld on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 7 - 8 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Green Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 2382 Coxe Road, Tryon, NC.
