James Cunningham Chavers, Jr. ,64, transitioned quietly at home on February 7, 2025. He was born on December 22, 1960, and was the son of the late James Cunningham Chavers, Sr. and Eddie Rogers Chavers of Spartanburg, South Carolina.
He was a 1979 graduate of Spartanburg High School and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of South Carolina Upstate in 1986. In the fall of 1979, James was hired and began working at Mr. Gatti’s, a local restaurant and family entertainment business, in Spartanburg, SC, where he proudly and passionately worked for 38 years. James enjoyed serving his community through various volunteer opportunities where many knew him as the “Pizza Man.” James was an avid sports lover and was always dedicated to lending a helping hand at Silverhill MUMC whenever he was called. He had a true servant’s heart and was unselfishly loving and giving to everyone that he met.
James is preceded in death by his parents James C. Chavers, Sr. and Eddie Rogers Chavers, and Julia Mae Chavers Bennett. He is survived by his twin sister Janice Cornelia Chavers Koman, nieces Sidney Paige Koman and Illissa Blake Koman and a host of beloved family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Silver Hill Memorial United Methodist Church, 778 John B. White Sr. Blvd., Spartanburg, SC.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

I have very special memories of my Cuzin James. He was alway Kind ("quietly so" and a very Smart, friendly young man. He hired his cuzin (my daughter) at his job while she was in High School. He always cared about others. I have many fond memories of James. He will be missed.
