Moore, SC: Geraldine Williams Davis, 90, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away surrounded by family on February 8, 2023, after battling Alzheimer's Disease.
Geraldine was born on May 20, 1932, to loving parents Cleo and Kina Bell Williams in Jonesville, South Carolina. As a child, along with her siblings Sarah, Panola, and Cleo Jr. ”Boy,” her family moved to Spartanburg, where she was raised on Cumming Street.
After working for the Spartanburg County school system for several years, she moved to Spartanburg General Hospital – Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She retired from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after more than 40 years of service.
She had ten children, John “Sonny,” Irene “Sister,” Annie Mildred, Jill Marie, Joyce, Tony, Leon “Baybay,” Sheila, Tracy “Robin,” and Mitchell. She was a soft-spoken and patient mother, never raising her voice and always encouraging her children.
Geraldine was a voracious reader. She did not start her day until she had her coffee and finished the newspaper. Moreover, she loved learning and continued taking community education classes in her 70s. Although she refused to fly on airplanes, she enjoyed traveling. She loved taking the bus and train trips. She especially loved spending time with her family. Most importantly, Geraldine loved the Lord and was a member of Greater Trinity AME Church.
Geraldine was predeceased by: her parents, Cleo and Kina Bell; all three of her siblings Sarah Williams, Panola Williams, Cleo Williams Jr.; her son, John Williams; her daughter, who died in infancy, Jill Marie Davis; her grandson, Marcus Robinson; and her nephew, Craig Williams.
She is survived by: her children, Dr. Irene Davis, Annie Mildred Aranmolate, Tony Williams, Leon Talley Davis, Sheila D. Davis, Mitchell Davis, all of Spartanburg, SC, Joyce D. Robinson, Baltimore, MD, Tracy Davis, Orlando, FL; her grandchildren, Dr. Funmilayo Aranmolate, Lawrenceville, GA, Ava Williams, Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Yetunde AranmolateSaffore (Lateef), Cleveland, OH, Dr. KudiratuAranmolate Clark (Irvin), Atlanta, GA, Ebony Davis Gray (Leon “Trey”), Spartanburg, SC, Tori Davis (Kathryn) of Clermont, FL, Alianna Davis, Orlando, FL; great-grandchildren, Naomi Davis, Traevon Gray, Aaron Grayson Gray, Gabrielle Saffore, Zuri Gray, Tori Elijah Davis, Theodore Clark, Zayla Gray, and Madison Clark; her nephew reared in the home, Bucky Johnson, Charlotte, NC; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life for Geraldine W. Davis will be held on February 12, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.
