Obituary For Georgia Peake

Mrs. Georgia Mae Peake was the wife of the late Louis D. Peake, Sr. and the
daughter of the late Lewis Smith and Elizabeth Eison Smith. Georgia Mae or
Granny, as she was affectionately called, transitioned on Saturday, September 9,
2023 at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston after a brief illness.
She was educated in the Union County School system, was a former employee
of the United Merchant Company, Corinth Baptist Church Children Day Care, a
homemaker for The Cheek Family, a retiree of TIMKEN, and a dedicated worker for her daughter Ruby at Little Ms. Ruby’s Daycare.
Her Christian journey began at the Bethany A.M.E Church, Kelton, South Carolina
and after marriage she became a faithful member of the Corinth Baptist Church,
Union, S.C for fifty five years. As a member of the Corinth Baptist Church she
worked faithfully in the following capacities: founder of the Corinth Baptist
Church Adult Choir, a church van driver, a member of the missionary society and
a trustee emeritus. Later in life as having a passion for singing, she
then organized her family group with her daughters and grandchildren known as
The Peake Family, also known as the Warriors in the Spirit. Under her leadership the Warriors in the Spirit has
performed on many platforms such as the Word Network Channel and the 2007
Spirit Fest Program along with other renown artists.

The Legacy:
She leaves to carry out her legacy; a son, Louis D. Peake, Jr of the home; two
daughters: Ruby M. Peake and Patrica A. Peake both of Union,SC. Grandchildren:
Tashima Sims, Larissa Means, Latonia Barrett, Shiree Hill, Terress Peake, Jamar
Peake, Mary Peake, Angela Jeter, and Brittany Thompson. Seventeen great
grandchildren. A sister: Minnie P. Rice of Spartanburg, SC. Two brother-in-laws:
James (Mary) Peake of Union,SC and Richard Segres of Woodbridge, VA. Two sister-in-laws; Helen(Howard) Carter of Aliquippa, PA and Ruby Henderson. Four godchildren: Emma Garner, Minister Calandra Barrett, Felicia Mitchell and Elder Frederick Gregory. Also nieces, nephews, close relatives, and friends. Along with her husband and both parents, she was preceded in death by two children: Mary Peake Barrett and Barbara Peake. Four sisters: Bernestine Gregory, Beverly Smith, Virgina Beaty and Perrie L. Segres, and three brothers: Ervin Smith, Myles Smith and Lewis Smith,Jr.

Lie In Repose

A song service for family and friends will be held at the Corinth Baptist Church,
Union, SC on Saturday September 16,2023 from 5pm until 7pm. The celebration
of life will be conducted on Sunday September 17, 2023 at 2 o'clock in the
afternoon at the Pacolet River Association Center located at 168 Lovers Lane
Road, Union,SC with the Dr. J.A Calhoun of the Corinth Baptist Church , Union
SC and Dr. J.A Bush of the Walkers Memorial Baptist Church, Bronx New York
officiating. The burial will follow at the Union Memorial Garden Cemetery Union,
