Mr. George Thomas Hunter Sr. answered the master’s call on January 11, 2025. He was born on March 6, 1946, to the late Mr. Cornell B Hunter and Mrs. Bessie Mae Smith Hunter. He was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Theresa Jackson Hunter
for 59 years.
Mr. Hunter was a member at Cummings St. Baptist Church . Where he served as a door keeper for the Lord. And also helped with landscaping to keep the church ground beautiful. He also attended Real Talk Ministries.
He attended Cummings St. School. After school he went to work as a Roofer for Pickens roofing company. And later on as a foreman for Cannon’s roofing company. After his career as a
roofer, he went to work for Phillip fibers and was a machine operator there for a number of years.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories is his wife Theresa Jackson Hunter. Three daughters Debra H Johnson (Elvis) Sonja Hunter Lindsey (Greg), Tammy L Hunter(Timothy). One son George Thomas Hunter Jr. Four sisters all of Spartanburg, Mrs. Gladys Hill , Mrs. Connie Hardy( Lennox), Mrs. Lottie
Davis, Ms. Rose Hunter. Nine grandchildren. Georgette Dan’elle Hunter of Charlotte, North Carolina. Brandon Scott Hunter, Keyunna Hunter, Kendra Hunter, Brooks Hunter, Ryan Hunter, Kendrick Hunter, Jacoby Browning, and Candice Hunter. 13 great grandchildren. Special brother and sister in
love Robert & Gail Martin of Oak Park, Michigan and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Juanita Hunter Sawyer and Mrs. Joe Emily Hunter Jeter , two brother-in-law’s Mr. Tyrone F. Davis and Mr. Morris Hill.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 12:30pm in The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Burial will be in the Lincoln Memoria Gardens, Spartanburg, SC.
