Elder Edmund Drummond was born in Spartanburg County on August 9th, 1941 to the late Mr. Willie
and Mrs. Josephine (Cunningham) Drummond. He was preceded in death by two brothers Jimmy Julius
Drummond and James Curtis “J.C.” Drummond; five sisters, Virginia Foster, Minnie Lee Underwood,
Thelma Goodman, Estelle Gilliam, and Gwendolyn Drummond.
Edmund “Sunny” Drummond matriculated through the Spartanburg County Schools and graduated from
Florence Chapel High School, Class of 1960, in Wellford, SC. After high school, he went on to serve his country in the military and was honorably discharged in 1965. Edmund married the love of his life, the late Bobbie Jean (Collins) Drummond, and they went on to share 48 years of love and life together. And from that union they had a daughter, the late Jacquelyn L. Drummond Harrison.
Elder Drummond was a proud employee of Leigh Fibers in Wellford, SC for 45 years. As a leader in the
workplace, he proudly upheld his morals and values. His character was admired by his peers. He was a
faithful and selfless member of the Shiloh Seventh-Day Adventist Church for five decades, serving
alongside his loving wife Bobbie Jean. They worked together to care for those around them with genuine
love and concern. Elder Drummond served his family and community with nurturing hands and an open
heart. He tirelessly worked to improve the lives of others by helping those who could not help themselves, by teaching others about God’s love through prayer, Bible studies, and by lending a helping hand to whoever was in need. Elder Drummond was passionate about gardening. Not only was he proud of the bounty God granted him, he gladly shared his endless harvest with others as an expression of God’s love.
Left to carry on his legacy are his loving daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Nick Chambers; his caring
granddaughter and her husband, Ametria Faith Harrison and Valens Nzarubara; his faithful son-in-law
and primary caretaker, Joe Louis Harrison; his wonderful sisters, Elwillie Drummond and Diane Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.
Elder Drummond’s life is a testament to God’s love and plan for our own lives. In his final days, he
smiled when his family asked what his favorite scripture was and he answered, “John 3:16.” With the
promise of everlasting life, we celebrate his legacy— and we are thankful for the day we will see our
beloved again.
