Joan Jenkins was known for being a special and sincere friend, the queen-chef of a variety of cultural cuisines, a fierce lover and defender of her family, an adorably, cute dancer to her favorite songs, the most curious air sign, a proud woman with a multitude of personal successes, and a true one of one.
Joan was born on Tuesday, September 27th in the year 1955 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born to the late Joseph Jenkins and late Annie McCleod she was the couple's eldest daughter. She was educated in the Sarasota County School system.
Forever a football and basketball fan, she was always confident in her beliefs and had the charisma to say what we were all thinking - while putting a smile on everyone’s face. A dedicated Christian, she has loved the Lord her entire life and brought prayer, thankfulness and joy to her family.
The very proud mother of one amazingly beautiful daughter, Shevawn, she was blessed to witness, affirm and have a hand in the rearing of her three “smart, sassy and ’ratchet’ “ granddaughters, Kasmere, Elise and Gabby ; and she had the pleasure to welcome and love her great-grandchild.
Joan Jenkins, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and a friend to many passed this month of November, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia. Joan saw the bright light of 68 years and she casted an incandescent glow on all that were blessed to experience her kind spirit and love.
Joan is survived by her daughter Shevawn, granddaughter’s Kasmere, Elise and Gabby, her god-daughter Lovey Lynch and her precious great-grandchild Baby. She is also survived by her faithful and interconnected siblings Hattie Dupree, Earnest Jenkins, Brenda Garrison, Gloria Rivers, Naomi Jones, Belinda Clark, Maria Baker, James Baker, Antonyo Baker and Gerard Baker. She was also a sister to Balai Ali (deceased).
Please join us in celebration and fellowship in Joan Jenkins’ honor. We will celebrate her life with laughter, camaraderie, memories and maybe a few Caribbean “whines”.
Rest in peace and power, beautiful Joan Jenkins. Your memory will always live, thrive and continue on within the hearts of those who felt and shared love, fun, support and guidance from you.
