Gloria Elaine Mayo was born in Sarasota County, Florida on May 26, 1951 to Ruby (Taylor) Mayo and Sherman R. Mayo.
She was a devoted and loving mother to her four children: Karla Lorraine Wooten, Dhavid Michason Wooten, Leshia Mone Wooten and Rhashalon Alexander Norris.
Her life was given to God at an early age. Her God given talent led her to start her business as a Portrait and Fine Artist (Gloria Mayo Fine Art Sales). An additional talent she shared with the world was thru spoken word as a writer.
She was a devoted founding chartered member of Westcoast for over 50 years. She sang in various choirs and was the pianist/organist for majority of the churches in the Sarasota/Bradenton and Tampa Bay area. She toured (sang) within the continental US with her church as well as performed with Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe (WBTT) and other theaters within the community as a actress/singer.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Sherman R. Mayo, Sr.; mother, Ruby (Taylor) Mayo; brother, Sherman R. Mayo Jr.; sisters, Naomi Mayo, Carla Walter and Chiquita Drayton.
She is survived by her daughters, Karla Lorraine Wooten and Leshia Mone Wooten; sons, Dhavid Michason Wooten and Rhashalon Alexander Norris; grand daughters, Camaryn D. Wooten and Calista Bey; grand sons, Christopher Wooten, Xavier Wooten, Hershel Norris; as well as 7 siblings, great grand children and nieces/nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
