Obituary For Rodney Jackson

( December 31, 1968--September 12,2023 )

TYLER--Funeral services for Mr. Rodney “Black Jack” Jackson, 54, of Sherwood Arkansas, formerly of Tyler is scheduled for Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2 pm in the sanctuary of Dale Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Marshall Johnson, eulogist.

Burial will follow in Hopewell Community Cemetery/Swan under the direction of John R Harmon Undertaking.

Mr. Jackson was born on December 31, 1968 to Robert and Bobbie Ward Jackson and transitioned on September 12, 2023 in Sherwood, Arkansas.

He graduated from John Tyler High School and received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Kentucky. Mr. Jackson was a former member of North Star Baptist Church and he was Supervisor/Occupational Recreation Therapist for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, five uncles and one aunt. Left to cherish his memories are Parents: Robert and Bobbie Jackson of Tyler, Texas; sisters: Schekatha Jackson Roberson (Jerry) of Flint and LaQuenda Jackson of Tyler; brothers: Tony Jackson and Michael Jackson both of Tyler and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 2 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.

As much as I like the pink candle, I did the blue one for you. (Go Cats) We go back 30 years. You're one of the first people I met at the VA in Lexington and who knew we would've spent the last 20+ years together at the Little Rock, VA. You will always have a special place for sure. Not even sure this has fully hit me yet. I've been cleaning out your apartment every day and Man if you were here, I would've already jumped all over you about some things. Lol. I very saddened of the passing of my cousin, I am glad to have been with him 2weeks prior of his homecoming😢. We laughed and talked about old times those where the 2 priceless days to see and enjoy him and to get Bear Hug 🤗 he gives the best hug along with the best smiles. It was certainly my honor to be your high school football teammate my brother. To hear that Jackson name after we made catches was special because whether it was you or me, just hearing the name broadcast over the stadium sounded good.
