TYLER--Celebration of the Life, Love and Legacy of Pastor Jesse E McLendon will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 1 pm in the sanctuary of Dale Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Marshall Johnson officiating and Pastor Steven D Young, eulogist. Burial will be on a scheduled date in the DFW National Cemetery under the direction of John R Harmon Undertaking Company.
He was born on July 14, 1952 in Wilson, Arkansas to the late Jesse Boyd and Maxine McClendon and he made his peaceful transition on June 16, 2023.
He received his Bachelors Degree from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Pastor Mac was a member of The Cross Baptist Church serving as associate pastor and was the current pastor on the 2nd and 4th Sunday at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Laneville, Texas.
He served in both the United States Army and Navy where he retired as a Captain. Pastor Mac pastored several churches in Colorado, Winona, Sulphur Springs and Tyler where he was the former pastor of Dale Chapel Baptist Church. Just to name a few places where he worked were the Andrew Center, Access, Board of Pardon and Parole and a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
His memories will be cherished in the hearts of his spouse of 50 years, Ira McLendon, son: Jamal McLendon and grandson Javonte McLendon, all of Tyler, Texas; sisters, brothers and other relatives, clergy, co-workers and friends.
Public viewing will be Friday from 2 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.
